In Conversation With: Candy from LushTums Chichester
This month we’re catching up with one of the newest members of the LushTums teaching family, Candy Myhill. Candy has recently completed her Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training with us and will soon start teaching LushTums classes in Chichester , West Sussex.
Why don’t you start by telling us a bit about yourself?
I’m Candy, mum to 3 cheeky monkeys and wife to a mountain bike fanatic! I love all things outdoors, be it camping, walking, exploring- or a nice pub garden!
What’s prompted your career change, and what made you choose LushTums?
I am a qualified nurse, and have always been amazed by what our bodies are capable of, especially since having children. At one time I considered re-training to be a midwife, but it wasn’t the right time. Then when I was pregnant with my 3rd child the opportunity arose to train as a LushTums Pregnancy Yoga teacher, and it was the right fit for me.
What do you feel women get from attending LushTums Pregnancy Yoga classes with you?
Having attended LushTums Pregnancy Yoga classes myself during my three pregnancies I knew firsthand just how much they help. I learnt so much to help prepare myself for each birth and also found them so helpful for easing any aches and pains I was experiencing. Knowing there was nothing like LushTums on offer in the Chichester area motivated me further. My classes are tailored to each individuals needs, with adaptions where needed. I provide a friendly, welcoming space, where we can help alleviate ailments, work on our breath and learn how to use it for quietening our minds, as well as a tool to use during labour. My classes are for everyone, with no yoga experience necessary, and they are a great place to make friends and build a vital support network.
What do you love about what you do?
Working with pregnant women is such an amazing thing to do, during a time of so much personal change in their lives. Supporting them so they can have a more positive journey as a mother is so rewarding. Our bodies are capable of so much, and feeling empowered at this time is so beneficial.
What do you hope to achieve over the next year?
This year I will be launching my antenatal classes in Chichester, which will teach women about all aspects of labour and birth, and share useful yoga techniques that can help with baby’s arrival.
Later in the year I plan to start teaching LushTums Postnatal classes, some for mum and baby, and some evening classes. I look forward to seeing women through their journey as a new mother, and helping them build up their strength and confidence as they go.
